Aberdeen Names Modiv Shopper an NRF "Show stopper"
From Aberdeen Group, January 27,
2009
By Sahir Anand & Chris Cunnane
Aberdeen's latest benchmark report on the State of the Retail Market:
Retail Recovery Strategies for 2009 showed that 80% of retailers are
currently impacted by the high cost of goods sold and low consumer
confidence - leading to lowering of comp store sales and margin
expectations. In this backdrop, the National Retail Federation (NRF)
2009 Big Show saw a decline in retail traffic due to cutbacks by
retailers. However both retailers and technology service providers
spoke of the need for improved sell-side and buy-side strategies,
faster return on investment, and the need for improved consumerism in
stores and channels. While the show did focus on the rapid strides made
by digital retail, the show stoppers were Microsoft, IBM, Modiv Media
(Motorola), Cactus Commerce, and Retaligent. These technology providers
attracted traffic and curiosity around their latest technology
offerings.
